The Details
The LepLoop v3 is a compact but wonderfully unruly analogue performance machine from Laboratorio Elettronico Popolare. Designed for live electronic music, it combines synth voices, rhythm sequencing, analogue modulation and hands-on control in one small, aggressive-sounding box.
Inside you’ll find VCO1 with triangle/square wave, VCO2 with sawtooth, ring modulation and FM, a white noise generator, 24 dB/oct diode low-pass filter, two VCAs, two AR envelopes, an LFO, and a kick drum circuit with distortion and trigger mixer.
Its signature magic is the 16-capacitor analogue sequencer, where pitch information is stored in actual capacitors, creating beautifully imperfect drift and degradation over time. Alongside that sits a 4-track digital rhythm sequencer with 64 steps per track and EEPROM memory for up to 160 patterns.
Version 3 adds a redesigned PCB, new metal shaft pots, 15V DC PSU, on/off switch, envelope gate I/O, CV-controllable envelope release, VCA linear/exponential switching and LFO rate CV input. A splendid little beast for techno, electro, experimental pulses and anyone who likes their machines with a dangerous glint in the eye.
