The Details

his Burny RLC-55S takes the familiar elegance of a Les Paul Custom-style instrument and adds one of Fernandes' most entertaining inventions, the onboard Sustainer system.

Finished in Alpine White with multi-ply binding, black appointments and gold hardware, it has all the visual swagger expected of a Custom. The rosewood fingerboard features large block inlays, while the bound headstock carries the Burny logo and decorative inlay.

The conventional Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece retain the familiar feel and response of the classic single-cut design. At the bridge is a humbucking pickup, while the neck position houses the Fernandes Sustainer driver. Two mini-toggle switches operate the Sustainer functions, with the system powered by a battery housed in a dedicated rear compartment.

A fascinating Burny for players who want traditional Custom looks without traditional sonic boundaries. Engage the Sustainer and a perfectly respectable white single-cut suddenly develops the ability to make notes hover in mid-air.
