The Details
The Electro-Harmonix East River Drive is a straightforward, musical overdrive designed around the much-loved style of classic green overdrive circuits. It delivers a focused midrange, controlled low end and smooth clipping that works beautifully for blues, rock, country and stacked-drive setups.
Its simple three-control layout keeps matters refreshingly civilised. Drive determines the amount of overdrive, Tone shapes the high-frequency response and Volume sets the output level. Run the Drive low and Volume high to push a valve amplifier or another dirt pedal, or turn up the gain for warm crunch and sustaining lead tones.
The East River Drive is particularly effective for tightening an already driven amplifier, adding definition to rhythm parts or helping solos step forward in a busy mix. Compact, uncomplicated and pleasingly responsive, it is the sort of pedal that earns permanent pedalboard residency by quietly being useful at almost every gig.
