The Details

The Elektron Digitakt Mk1 is a modern classic drum computer and sampler, loved for its tight sound, hands-on workflow and famously deep Elektron sequencing. It offers eight internal audio tracks plus eight MIDI tracks, giving it a remarkable amount of control for such a compact box. Each audio track can shape samples with filtering, amplitude control, LFO modulation and performance-friendly sequencing tricks, while the MIDI tracks can drive external gear with chords, CC control and Elektron-style locks. Elektron’s own documentation confirms the eight audio and eight MIDI track structure, plus direct sampling and computer sample transfer via Elektron Transfer.

Sound On Sound described the original Digitakt as bringing “Elektron magic” into a more compact and affordable sampling drum machine, which rather nails its charm: small footprint, serious sequencing power, and enough rhythmic invention to make a polite drum loop start wearing a leather jacket.
