The Details
The Fender Vintera '60s Jaguar takes one of Fender's most distinctive designs and gives it a thoroughly period-inspired treatment. With its sweeping offset body, tortoiseshell-style pickguard and handsome 3-Color Sunburst finish, it has the unmistakable appearance of a guitar that arrived from the Space Age carrying a surfboard.
Its compact 24" scale is central to the Jaguar experience, offering a supple playing feel and a lively, immediate response. The pau ferro fingerboard and vintage-inspired neck specification continue the '60s flavour, while two Jaguar single-coil pickups provide the clear, cutting attack and wiry character for which the model is renowned.
Then there are the controls. Where lesser guitars make do with a switch and a couple of knobs, the Jaguar arrives with something resembling the control panel of a small experimental aircraft. Its traditional lead and rhythm circuitry provides plenty of scope for moving between brighter, more direct sounds and warmer textures.
A vintage-style floating tremolo completes the arrangement, making subtle shimmers, bends and suitably atmospheric excursions readily available.
