The Details
The Funny Little Boxes Skeleton Key is the second collaboration between Funny Little Boxes and the Let's Play All YouTube channel, created to capture the raw, complex and unmistakable guitar sounds heard throughout the Queens Of The Stone Age catalogue. Rather than simply piling on gain, its carefully tuned op-amp circuit delivers the scratchy, growling, thunderous character that has made those legendary desert rock tones so difficult to replicate.
With just three highly interactive controls, the Skeleton Key can move from punchy dirty boost through rich overdrive to full-bodied distortion. It responds especially well when pushing a valve amplifier and pairs beautifully with down-tuned, humbucker-equipped guitars, while remaining expressive enough to clean up with your guitar's volume control. Running from a standard 9V DC centre-negative power supply, it is a simple yet remarkably characterful addition to any player's pedalboard.
