The Details
The Ibanez JEM555 takes the wonderfully flamboyant Steve Vai JEM formula and turns it into a serious performance guitar with stage presence to spare. Finished in white with a pearloid pickguard, it carries the signature Monkey Grip body cut-out, sculpted double-cutaway shape and elaborate vine-style fingerboard inlays.
Its HSH pickup layout provides a broad tonal palette, moving from muscular humbucker sounds for soaring leads and heavy rhythm work to brighter, more articulate textures. A five-way selector, master volume and master tone keep the controls straightforward.
At the bridge sits a double-locking tremolo system, built for the sort of pitch gymnastics for which the JEM family is famous. The locking nut helps maintain tuning stability when the tremolo is being put through its paces.
This example shows signs of previous use, including visible marks, scratches and general cosmetic wear to the white finish and hardware. Please study the photographs carefully for the condition of this particular instrument. The rear headstock marking identifies the model as JEM555.
