The Details
The Korg multi/poly is a powerful analogue modelling synthesiser that takes inspiration from the celebrated Mono/Poly while venturing considerably further into modern sound-design territory.
Its architecture provides four oscillators per Program, with Classic analogue-style waveforms joined by Digital wavetable and Waveshaper options. Sync, cross-modulation, ring modulation and noise broaden the palette further, making the multi/poly equally comfortable producing vintage leads and basses, enormous pads, animated sequences and thoroughly peculiar sonic expeditions.
Dual filters can operate in series or parallel, with a broad collection of filter models available. Extensive envelopes and LFOs are joined by Motion Sequencing 2.0 and Korg's wonderfully unusual Kaoss Physics system, allowing sounds to move, evolve and react in ways that go well beyond conventional subtractive synthesis.
Up to four Programs can be combined within a Performance, while Layer Rotate can trigger different Programs with successive notes. The hands-on control panel provides plentiful immediate access to oscillators, filters, envelopes, modulation, effects and sequencing without requiring constant menu excavation.
This example is supplied with its original box and the dedicated Korg multi/poly carrying case pictured. A particularly tempting package for the travelling synthesist, or indeed anyone whose idea of sensible luggage includes four oscillators and several dozen modulation possibilities.
