The Details
This 1987 Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay is a particularly handsome survivor, finished in translucent blue and sporting a gloriously figured birdseye maple neck and fingerboard.
Everything on the bass is genuine and original apart from the currently fitted white pearloid pickguard, which we added ourselves. Crucially for collectors and vintage-minded players, the genuine original transparent pickguard is included with the bass and can be refitted if preferred.
The birdseye maple is the visual treasure here. Beautiful figuring runs along the neck and fingerboard, giving this StingRay an individual character that simply cannot be manufactured to order.
Its classic Music Man humbucker and active electronics deliver the sound that made the StingRay a legend: deep, muscular lows, immediate attack, crisp definition and that unmistakable growl when you dig in.
As the photographs show, this is a genuinely used vintage instrument with various small marks, scratches and areas of finish wear accumulated over nearly four decades. We have made no attempt to disguise them. They are part of the bass's history and should be considered when assessing its condition.
A wonderfully distinctive vintage StingRay with genuine components throughout, fabulous birdseye maple and the important original transparent pickguard safely included.
