The Details

The Pittsburgh Modular Lifeforms MIDI 3 is a compact Eurorack MIDI-to-CV interface designed to connect conventional MIDI equipment with the wonderfully unruly world of analogue modular synthesis.

Its front panel provides Gate 1 and Gate 2 outputs alongside CV 1 and CV 2, allowing MIDI note information to control modular oscillators, envelopes and complete voices. Dedicated Velocity and CC outputs provide additional modulation possibilities, while pitch bend support adds further expression.

Three operating modes make the MIDI 3 particularly versatile. Mono mode handles traditional single-voice duties, Duo mode provides two-voice operation, and Arp mode introduces arpeggiator functionality for instant rhythmic and melodic movement. Front-panel Mode, Edit and Hold controls provide access to the module's performance and configuration functions.

A dedicated Clock output allows MIDI timing information to synchronise sequencers, clock dividers and other Eurorack modules, with a Tap control adding another useful performance option.

MIDI arrives through a full-size 5-pin DIN input, making the Lifeforms MIDI 3 an excellent choice for integrating MIDI keyboards, hardware sequencers and DAWs with a Eurorack system.
