The Details

A particularly handsome piece from the PRS SE signature archives, this Mikael Åkerfeldt model was produced in collaboration with the guitarist, vocalist and songwriter behind Opeth.Its figured top wears a deep Tortoise Shell-style finish, complemented beautifully by gold hardware and the ornate Opeth emblem on the lower bout. The dark fingerboard carries PRS's famous bird inlays, while the headstock bears Mikael Åkerfeldt's name alongside the SE logo.

The guitar is equipped with a pair of open-coil humbuckers, straightforward two-knob controls and a three-way toggle selector, together with a PRS tremolo bridge. It is an appealing specification for everything from articulate cleans and progressive textures to the considerably heavier end of the sonic map.

A discontinued signature PRS with a very particular identity, and considerably more character than the average anonymous black metal machine. Supplied with the gig bag pictured.
