The Details

The Shakmat Time Wizard is an 8HP Eurorack multi clock divider designed to turn a simple clock signal into a surprisingly elaborate rhythmic network. Its six dividers are arranged as two groups of three, with individual outputs A1, A2, A3, B4, B5 and B6.

Each divider offers selectable division ratios, while four top-panel switches alter the relationships between the two groups. These provide multiplication, alternative clock routing, logic operations and reset behaviour, giving the Time Wizard an impressive 81 routing combinations.

This makes it considerably more adventurous than a conventional clock divider. It can generate interlocking percussion triggers, polyrhythms and unusual clock ratios, or keep several sequencers running at different yet musically connected rates. Reset facilities are especially handy when constructing odd metres or patterns that periodically tumble apart before snapping neatly back together.

The Time Wizard is now listed by Shakmat among its discontinued modules, making it an appealing find for anyone after one of the company's earlier rhythm-manipulation designs.
