The Details
The Shergold Telstar Standard ST14 is an electric guitar for players who fancy travelling beyond the familiar borders of conventional guitar design. Its solid poplar body, gloss black finish, cream scratchplate and colour-matched headstock give it an unmistakable retro-modern appearance, while the hardware beneath the bonnet is pleasingly purposeful.
A pair of FilterSonic humbuckers provides the engine room, controlled by a simple master volume, master tone and three-position pickup selector. Expect warmth and body when required, but with enough brightness and definition to keep chords articulate and riffs lively.
The bolt-on solid maple neck has a 648mm / 25.5-inch scale length, paired with a laurel fingerboard, 305mm / 12-inch radius and medium-jumbo hard nickel frets. A synthetic bone 41mm nut, dual-action truss rod and closed-gear tuners complete the playing specification.
At the bridge you'll find a fixed, six-saddle chrome design with string-through-body construction, a reassuringly uncomplicated arrangement for players who value tuning stability and solid sustain.
Designed in the UK by Patrick James Eggle, the Telstar is unmistakably a Shergold: slightly unconventional, thoroughly musical and rather difficult to mistake for anything else in the rack.
