The Details
There is something gloriously mischievous about an Esquire. It appears to have arrived one pickup short of a Telecaster, then proceeds to demonstrate that it needs no assistance whatsoever.
This limited-edition Squier Classic Vibe ’60s Custom Esquire dresses that wonderfully economical formula in Shoreline Gold, complemented by aged white double body binding and a mint green three-ply pickguard. The gloss polyurethane poplar body is joined by a maple neck with vintage-tinted gloss finish and a 25.5-inch scale laurel fingerboard. Fender
At the bridge sits a single Fender-designed Alnico pickup, but the three-way selector makes considerably more of it. Position one sends the pickup directly to the output jack, position two introduces the volume control, while position three brings both volume and tone controls into play. It is a beautifully simple arrangement offering several flavours without cluttering the proceedings. Fender
The 9.5-inch fingerboard radius and narrow-tall frets bring modern practicality to the vintage recipe, while the three-barrel string-through bridge, nickel-plated hardware and vintage-style tuners maintain the old-school atmosphere.
