The Details
The Solid State Logic SSL 18 is a professional 1U rackmount USB audio interface designed for studios that need plenty of I/O without sacrificing sound quality or straightforward operation.
Eight analogue input channels give you ample scope for recording bands, drums, synth rigs and multi-mic sessions, while SSL's microphone preamp design delivers the clean, open character expected from the company behind some of recording history's most celebrated consoles. Switchable Legacy 4K processing provides another flavour when required, introducing analogue character inspired by SSL's legendary 4000-series circuitry.
Its generous analogue outputs are joined by ADAT and S/PDIF digital connectivity, MIDI I/O and word clock, making the SSL 18 equally comfortable as the centrepiece of a new studio or integrated into a larger collection of preamps, converters and outboard equipment. Dedicated monitor and headphone controls keep day-to-day sessions pleasantly civilised.
The front panel provides immediate access to gain and monitoring controls, while the rackmount format keeps a substantial studio setup neatly contained in just 1U of space.
