The Details

The TC Electronic Ditto X4 is a powerful dual-track looper designed for musicians who want the immediacy of the original Ditto concept with considerably greater performance flexibility.

Each loop has its own large level control and dedicated footswitch, allowing two independent layers or sections to be built and manipulated during a performance. The Serial/Sync switch provides different ways of working with the two loops, while dedicated Stop and FX switches mean the important commands remain underfoot rather than buried in menus.

Its onboard loop effects open another hatch entirely. Reverse, Half and Double modes can transform recorded phrases, while Hold, Once and tape-style effects offer plenty of scope for ambient textures, experimental soundscapes and more theatrical live looping.

Around the back are stereo inputs and outputs, MIDI In and Thru, USB and the 9V power connection, making the X4 equally useful in a conventional guitar pedalboard or a larger MIDI-based setup.

A splendid looping command centre for guitarists, bassists, keyboard players and sonic cartographers of every persuasion. Two loops, four footswitches and enough temporal mischief to make a metronome mildly nervous.
