The Details
The Yamaha DX21 is a vintage FM synthesizer from the golden age of digital synthesis, closely related in spirit to the legendary Yamaha DX7. While the DX7 became famous for its deeper 6-operator FM engine and era-defining electric pianos, basses and bells, the DX21 offers a more streamlined 4-operator approach, making it easier to navigate while still delivering that unmistakable Yamaha digital sheen.
Expect sparkling keys, crystalline bells, rubbery synth basses, synthetic brass, glassy pads and curious little tones that sound as though they were discovered in a secret cupboard at a 1985 science fair. Its Dual and Split modes add flexibility for layering or dividing the keyboard into two performance zones, while the onboard chorus gives the sound extra body and polish.
